Volumetric lobe pumps can have a by-pass or safety valve, to protect the pump from pressure surges or overpressure conditions. They open at a set pressure and either ensure circulation of the fluid inside the pump or allow bypassing. Integrated By-pass: Built directly built in the cover, manually operated, (spring) or pneumatic (pistons). By-pass: External connection through a safety valve on the compression port pipe to the inlet, which is manually operated or pneumatic.
